This page presents YouTube videos of Morris dancers performing in clogs.Â
Most performances are in the style known as North West Morris, which originated in Lancashire and Cheshire. Some of the teams refer to themselves as Clog Morris Dancers, or even Clog Dancers, though the latter term generally refers to step dancers who perform in clogs. Some teams call themselves Cloggers, a term normally used to describe clog makers, but sometimes clog dancers or Morris dancers in clogs. (To confuse matters, some American-style dancers who perform in shoes call themselves cloggers.)
A few videos show Border Morris and Yorkshire Longsword being performed in clogs, which is unusual for these styles.
We hope that you enjoy all of the performances. Dancers make the effort to learn the dances and then to perform them for your pleasure. The fact that Morris dancing in clogs enjoyed a resurgence in the late twentieth century contributed to the survival of clog making in Britain, so all dancers in clogs deserve some credit for playing their part in that.
