This page presents YouTube videos of a style of step dancing known as clog dancing - when performed in clogs. Some dances are performed by individuals, and others by two or more dancers.
Dancers usually prefer to perform on a hard, level, and smooth surface so tend to use either individual wooden boards or a larger 'portable' stage. When performing at festivals real stages may be available. That's a throwback to the days when some clog dancers were big stars in the music halls and theatres of the nineteenth century.
Teams sometimes call themselves Cloggies or Cloggers. The name Cloggies brings to mind Bill Tidy's cartoons of morris dancers, who seemed to be wearing boots rather than clogs anyway. The name Cloggers make us think of those talented people who make clogs, or even American step dancers performing in the Appalachian style wearing tap shoes. Whatever teams call themselves we hope you enjoy their performances in these videos.
